Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Compliance Officer to join our distinguished legal team, specifically focusing on the intricate compliance landscape surrounding major streaming platforms, including Netflix. This unique “Smart Work” role offers a hybrid model, combining on-site collaboration with flexible remote work, providing an unparalleled opportunity to develop expertise in entertainment law and digital content compliance. You will play a crucial role in supporting our senior attorneys and clients in navigating domestic and international regulatory requirements, ensuring adherence to legal frameworks, and mitigating risks in a rapidly evolving industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive legal and regulatory research related to content licensing, digital distribution, intellectual property rights, data privacy (e.g., CCPA, GDPR), and advertising standards relevant to streaming services.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and review of compliance policies, procedures, and training materials tailored for entertainment clients.
  • Monitor global legal and regulatory developments impacting the media, entertainment, and technology sectors, providing summaries and impact analyses to the team.
  • Support internal and external audit processes, risk assessments, and due diligence activities.
  • Prepare concise reports, presentations, and memoranda on compliance issues for both internal stakeholders and client-facing discussions.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional legal teams, business development, and client operations to integrate compliance requirements into business processes.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date compliance documentation and records.
  • Participate in client meetings and calls, contributing to strategic discussions on compliance matters.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Legal Studies, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field.
  • Exceptional research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, with an aptitude for clarity and precision.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal research platforms (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous internship, externship, or volunteer experience in a legal, compliance, or media-related setting.
  • Basic understanding of the media and entertainment industry, including streaming platforms and content production cycles.
  • Familiarity with global data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and intellectual property concepts.
  • Demonstrated interest in the intersection of law, technology, and entertainment.
  • Fluency in a second language relevant to global content markets (e.g., Spanish, Mandarin).
