Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Laptop Setup Aide to join our remote Home Connectivity Support team. In this role, you will provide essential remote assistance to customers, guiding them through the setup of their new laptops and ensuring seamless integration with their home internet and peripheral devices. This position is ideal for individuals with strong technical aptitude, excellent communication skills, and a passion for helping others navigate technology with ease. You will troubleshoot common setup issues, explain complex steps simply, and ensure a positive customer experience from initial unboxing to full functionality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide remote, step-by-step guidance to customers for setting up new laptops, including operating system configuration, account creation, and initial software installation.
  • Assist customers in connecting their laptops to home Wi-Fi networks and other internet-enabled devices.
  • Troubleshoot basic connectivity issues, peripheral device setup (e.g., printers, webcams), and common software installation problems.
  • Educate customers on best practices for home network security and device maintenance.
  • Document customer interactions, solutions provided, and follow-up actions accurately in our CRM system.
  • Collaborate with senior technical support specialists when advanced issues arise, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current laptop technologies, operating systems, and Spectrum's services.

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of Windows and macOS operating systems.
  • Proficiency in basic computer hardware and software installation.
  • Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills.
  • Ability to explain technical information clearly and patiently to non-technical users.
  • Problem-solving aptitude with a logical approach to troubleshooting.
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection and a dedicated home workspace.
  • Basic knowledge of home networking (Wi-Fi, routers).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a customer service or technical support role (remote preferred).
  • Familiarity with various laptop brands and models.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+ or equivalent.
  • Experience with remote desktop support tools.
