Job Description
Join Google as a Machine Learning Specialist with a specific focus on understanding and optimizing algorithms relevant to large-scale social media platforms, particularly those akin to Pinterest’s recommendation and ranking systems. In this pivotal role, you will leverage your expertise in machine learning to analyze complex datasets, develop sophisticated models, and contribute to the evolution of algorithmic efficiency and user experience. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy advanced machine learning models tailored for social media recommendation, ranking, and content personalization algorithms.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of user interaction data and platform metrics to identify patterns and opportunities for algorithmic improvement, with a strong focus on Pinterest-like systems.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, data scientists, and engineers to translate complex business requirements into robust, scalable technical solutions.
- Evaluate model performance rigorously, interpret results, and iterate on solutions for continuous optimization and impact.
- Stay abreast of the latest research and developments in machine learning, particularly in areas of recommendation systems, content understanding, and large-scale user personalization.
- Contribute to the entire ML lifecycle, from data preprocessing and feature engineering to model deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 4+ years of professional experience in machine learning, data science, or a related analytical role.
- Strong proficiency in Python and core machine learning libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
- Demonstrated experience with recommendation systems, ranking algorithms, or large-scale content personalization.
- Familiarity with big data processing tools and platforms (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, SQL).
- Solid understanding of statistical modeling, experimental design, and A/B testing methodologies.
- Specific interest or experience in analyzing and optimizing algorithms similar to those used by platforms like Pinterest.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and its machine learning services (e.g., BigQuery ML, Vertex AI).
