Job Description
Are you a student looking for flexible, indoor work that fits your schedule? Indigo Books & Music is seeking enthusiastic and detail-oriented Magazine Sorters to join our Kitchener Distribution Centre team. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals who thrive in an organized environment and are looking to gain valuable experience while contributing to the efficient flow of our magazine inventory. You’ll be responsible for accurately sorting, organizing, and preparing magazines for distribution, ensuring our customers receive their favorite publications promptly and in perfect condition. This role offers consistent hours, a clean indoor workspace, and a supportive team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately sort incoming magazines based on publication title, issue number, and designated distribution routes.
- Organize sorted magazines onto shelves, pallets, or in bins according to established warehouse procedures.
- Verify quantities and identify any discrepancies or damaged items, reporting them to a supervisor.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area at all times.
- Adhere to all company safety guidelines and operational protocols.
- Assist with other light warehouse duties as needed, supporting the overall team effort.
Required Skills
- Ability to read and understand sorting instructions and publication titles.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Capacity to lift and carry up to 20 lbs occasionally.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Basic communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a high school or post-secondary program.
- Previous experience in a warehouse, retail, or sorting environment is an asset but not required.
- Familiarity with magazine titles or general interest in publications.
