Job Description
We are seeking highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our medical center team. This role offers flexible 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts across various units, allowing for a work-life balance that suits your needs. As an RN at University Health System, you will provide direct patient care, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and contribute to a supportive and innovative healthcare environment. Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient outcomes.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, accurately documenting all actions.
- Monitor and record vital signs, observing for any changes in patient condition and reporting critical findings.
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and execute individualized care plans.
- Educate patients and their families on disease processes, medication regimens, and self-care techniques.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records, adhering to all legal and ethical standards.
- Participate in unit meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education programs.
- Ensure a safe and clean environment for patients, strictly following infection control protocols.
- Act as a patient advocate, ensuring their rights are respected and their needs are met.
- Respond to emergency situations with speed and efficiency, providing life-saving interventions when necessary.
Required Skills
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas.
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred or willingness to obtain within 6 months.
- Proven ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop effective care plans.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse patient populations and healthcare teams.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- One (1) to two (2) years of experience in an acute care setting.
- Specialty certification (e.g., CCRN, CEN, PCCN).
- Experience with Magnet-designated hospital environments.
