Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and linguistically-adept Voice Assistant Trainer with a strong focus on pronunciation to join our dynamic AI team. In this flexible role, you will play a crucial part in enhancing the accuracy and naturalness of our voice assistant’s speech recognition and synthesis capabilities. Your primary responsibility will involve analyzing spoken language data, identifying pronunciation nuances, and providing precise phonetic feedback to improve the voice assistant’s understanding and generation of various speech patterns, accents, and intonations. This position requires an excellent ear for sound, meticulous attention to detail, and a passion for language.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and annotate spoken language data for phonetic accuracy, stress, and intonation.
- Identify and categorize pronunciation errors or inconsistencies in voice assistant responses.
- Develop and implement training strategies to improve the voice assistant's phonetic dictionary and acoustic models.
- Collaborate with linguists, data scientists, and engineers to refine speech recognition and text-to-speech systems.
- Provide clear and concise feedback on pronunciation challenges and suggest improvements.
- Participate in regular calibration sessions to maintain high data quality standards.
- Contribute to the creation of detailed guidelines and documentation for pronunciation annotation.
- Adapt to evolving project requirements and data analysis techniques.
- Handle sensitive data with confidentiality and integrity.
Required Skills
- Exceptional listening skills and a keen ear for phonetic detail and nuances in spoken language.
- Strong understanding of phonetics, phonology, and speech patterns.
- Excellent command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, and pronunciation.
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical abilities.
- Proficiency with annotation tools and data entry (training will be provided for specific tools).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying issues.
- Comfortable working with large datasets and repetitive tasks.
- Adaptability to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Phonetics, Speech Pathology, or a related field.
- Experience with phonetic transcription (e.g., IPA).
- Familiarity with speech recognition technologies or natural language processing (NLP).
- Experience in data annotation, quality assurance, or language testing.
- Ability to speak multiple languages, with native-level proficiency in at least one other language beyond English.
- Prior experience as a voice actor or vocal coach.
