Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Social Media Sentiment Analyst to join our dynamic team. This 100% remote role focuses on monitoring, analyzing, and interpreting social media conversations and text-based data to understand public sentiment towards our content, initiatives, and brand. You will play a crucial role in providing actionable insights to inform our content strategy, audience engagement, and reputation management efforts. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a passion for understanding online discourse.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor various social media platforms and online forums for mentions of the BBC and related topics.
- Analyze text-based data to identify and categorize sentiment (positive, negative, neutral, mixed).
- Identify emerging trends, key topics, and influential voices within online conversations.
- Generate comprehensive reports on sentiment analysis findings, including actionable recommendations for content and communication teams.
- Collaborate with marketing, editorial, and audience engagement teams to share insights and support strategic decision-making.
- Assist in the development and refinement of sentiment analysis methodologies and tools.
- Stay updated with the latest social media trends, tools, and best practices in sentiment analysis.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our online presence and audience understanding.
Required Skills
- Proven experience with social media monitoring and listening tools.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret complex data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in identifying nuances in text-based communication and sentiment.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
- Familiarity with major social media platforms (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Data Science, or a related field.
- Experience with natural language processing (NLP) concepts or tools.
- Previous experience in media, public relations, or a large-scale content-producing organization.
- Understanding of UK media landscape and public service broadcasting principles.
