Job Description
As an Oil Field Driver with Halliburton in Augusta, GA, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous materials, equipment, and personnel to and from oil and gas well sites. This role requires adherence to strict safety protocols, Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and company policies. You will operate various types of commercial vehicles, including heavy trucks, tankers, and specialized equipment, often in challenging environmental conditions and remote locations. This position offers high hazard pay and operates on a rotation schedule to support continuous field operations. A strong commitment to safety, reliability, and teamwork is essential for success in this critical role.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate and maintain commercial vehicles, including tanker trucks, flatbeds, and other specialized equipment.
- Transport hazardous and non-hazardous materials, chemicals, and equipment to oil and gas field locations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, documenting any defects or issues.
- Ensure compliance with all DOT regulations, federal, state, and local laws, and company safety policies.
- Load and unload materials and equipment, securing loads properly for transit.
- Maintain accurate logbooks, delivery tickets, and other required documentation.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, field personnel, and supervisors.
- Adhere to rotation schedules, which may include extended periods away from home.
- Participate in all safety meetings and training as required.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements.
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience, preferably in the oil & gas industry or heavy haul.
- Clean driving record (MVR).
- Ability to pass a DOT physical, drug screen, and background check.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe driving practices.
- Strong commitment to safety and environmental protection.
- Ability to work extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotational schedule.
- Physical ability to load/unload heavy equipment and perform manual tasks in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience driving off-road or in challenging terrain.
- Previous experience operating specialized oilfield equipment (e.g., acid tankers, proppant haulers).
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for minor vehicle troubleshooting.
