Job Description
Are you looking for a fulfilling role that offers a reliable weekly income and a supportive work environment? Tesco is seeking dedicated Orchard Direct Harvesters to join our team in Colchester, Essex. This role involves the careful harvesting of various fruits directly from our partner orchards, ensuring they meet Tesco’s high standards of quality and freshness. No prior experience is required as full training will be provided. We value reliability, a good work ethic, and a positive attitude. Key Responsibilities
- Harvesting fruits and vegetables by hand or using simple tools, following specific guidelines for ripeness and quality.
- Carefully placing harvested produce into appropriate containers to prevent bruising or damage.
- Adhering to all health and safety regulations on the farm.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area within the orchard.
- Working efficiently as part of a team to meet daily harvesting targets.
- Reporting any issues with crop quality or equipment to supervisors.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Ability to work effectively in an outdoor environment, in various weather conditions.
- Attention to detail to ensure quality control.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Basic communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a similar outdoor or agricultural role is a plus, but not essential.
- A valid UK driving license and access to reliable transport.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some weekends during peak season.
