Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quality Control Chemist to join our night shift team in Laredo, TX. This is a critical role responsible for performing analytical testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure they meet stringent quality specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemistry, proficiency with various laboratory instruments, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant work environment. This position offers a competitive hourly wage with a significant night shift differential.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute routine and non-routine analytical tests on raw materials, intermediates, and finished products using approved methodologies.
- Operate and maintain laboratory instruments such as HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV-Vis, titrators, and pH meters.
- Interpret test results, compare them against established specifications, and identify out-of-specification (OOS) results.
- Document all analytical data accurately and thoroughly in laboratory notebooks and LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).
- Perform troubleshooting and calibration of laboratory equipment to ensure accurate and reliable operation.
- Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and all company safety policies and procedures.
- Assist in the investigation of OOS results and support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Prepare chemical reagents and standards according to established procedures.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory processes and analytical methods.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Quality Control laboratory, preferably in a manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment.
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting analytical instruments (e.g., HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV-Vis).
- Strong understanding of chemical principles and analytical techniques.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to work independently on the night shift and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to interpret complex data.
- Familiarity with LIMS and quality management systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Chemistry or related field.
- Experience with cGMP/GLP regulations and compliance.
- Prior experience working night shifts in a laboratory setting.
- Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) techniques.
- Experience with method validation and transfer.
