Job Description

Join Sharp HealthCare as a Rehabilitation Music Aide, providing crucial physical therapy support in an ongoing capacity. In this vital role, you will assist licensed physical therapists and other rehabilitation professionals in implementing music-based interventions to enhance patient recovery and well-being. This position involves direct patient interaction, setting up and maintaining therapeutic environments, and contributing to a holistic healing experience. You will work with diverse patient populations, helping them achieve their rehabilitation goals through the power of music and supportive care. This is an on-site position requiring a compassionate and dedicated individual.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist physical therapists in facilitating music-based exercises and activities for patients.
  • Set up and prepare therapeutic environments, including music equipment and sensory tools.
  • Observe and document patient participation and responses to music interventions.
  • Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients during rehabilitation sessions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of rehabilitation areas and equipment.
  • Collaborate with the rehabilitation team to optimize patient care plans.
  • Transport patients to and from therapy sessions as needed.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and patient privacy regulations.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare support role or related field
  • Basic understanding of music principles and ability to follow music-based instructions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Empathy, patience, and a compassionate approach to patient care
  • Physical ability to assist with patient mobility and lift/move equipment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or higher in a healthcare-related field, music therapy, or psychology
  • Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Medical Assistant (MA)
  • Experience with therapeutic musical instruments or adaptive technologies
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish) to support diverse patient populations
