Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Rehabilitation Music Aide to join our physical therapy support team in Land O’ Lakes, FL. In this ongoing full-time role, you will play a crucial part in our patients’ recovery journeys by integrating music into therapeutic exercises and providing essential support to our physical therapy staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the therapeutic benefits of music, excellent interpersonal skills, and a genuine desire to assist patients in achieving their rehabilitation goals. This position offers an opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of individuals recovering from various conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist physical therapists in setting up and preparing treatment areas.
- Implement music-based interventions as directed by the physical therapist to enhance patient engagement and motivation during therapy sessions.
- Operate and maintain music equipment, ensuring cleanliness and functionality.
- Provide one-on-one and group support to patients during exercises, encouraging participation and adherence to therapy plans.
- Observe and report patient progress, changes in condition, and concerns to the supervising physical therapist.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized therapy environment.
- Document patient participation and relevant observations accurately in electronic health records.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure a holistic approach to patient care.
- Assist with patient transfers, mobility, and activities of daily living as needed and within scope of practice.
- Attend regular team meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
Required Skills
- Strong passion for helping others and a empathetic demeanor.
- Basic understanding of music theory or experience with musical instruments/singing.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Physical stamina to assist patients with movement and perform light lifting.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- CPR certification or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a healthcare or rehabilitation setting.
- Experience working with individuals with physical disabilities or chronic conditions.
- Certification in Music & Memory or similar therapeutic music programs.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Music, Psychology, Health Sciences).
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems.
