Job Description

As a Residential Youth Worker, you will provide vital care, support, and guidance to young people living in our residential homes. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day care, supervision, and support to young people in a residential setting.
  • Develop and implement individual care plans, ensuring all needs are met.
  • Facilitate and participate in educational, recreational, and therapeutic activities.
  • Promote positive behaviour, social skills, and independent living skills.
  • Manage challenging behaviour effectively and safely, following established protocols.
  • Work collaboratively with external agencies, families, and other professionals.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, ensuring compliance with safeguarding policies.
  • Act as a positive role model, fostering trust and respect with young people.
  • Support young people in their educational attainment and vocational development.

Required Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong empathy, patience, and understanding.
  • Ability to build rapport with young people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Basic IT literacy for record-keeping.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working with young people in a residential or care setting.
  • Knowledge of child development and relevant legislation (e.g., Children Act).
  • Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
