As a Residential Youth Worker, you will provide vital care, support, and guidance to young people living in our residential homes. Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day care, supervision, and support to young people in a residential setting.
- Develop and implement individual care plans, ensuring all needs are met.
- Facilitate and participate in educational, recreational, and therapeutic activities.
- Promote positive behaviour, social skills, and independent living skills.
- Manage challenging behaviour effectively and safely, following established protocols.
- Work collaboratively with external agencies, families, and other professionals.
- Maintain accurate records and reports, ensuring compliance with safeguarding policies.
- Act as a positive role model, fostering trust and respect with young people.
- Support young people in their educational attainment and vocational development.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong empathy, patience, and understanding.
- Ability to build rapport with young people from diverse backgrounds.
- Resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Basic IT literacy for record-keeping.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent.
- Previous experience working with young people in a residential or care setting.
- Knowledge of child development and relevant legislation (e.g., Children Act).
- Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
