Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Royalty Collections Analyst with a strong finance background to join our dynamic team. This fully remote role is critical to ensuring the accurate and timely collection of royalty payments from various global partners and licensees. The ideal candidate will be adept at navigating complex financial data, identifying discrepancies, and driving resolution to maximize revenue. You will play a pivotal role in the financial health of our extensive catalog, working closely with internal finance, legal, and business affairs teams, as well as external partners. Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end royalty collections process, including invoicing, reconciliation, and payment tracking.
- Analyze royalty statements from licensees to ensure accuracy and identify potential underpayments or discrepancies.
- Investigate and resolve collection issues through direct communication with licensees and internal stakeholders.
- Prepare detailed financial reports and analyses on collection status, aging, and trends.
- Collaborate with legal and business affairs teams on contract interpretation and enforcement related to royalty payments.
- Maintain accurate records of all collection activities and communications.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and improve collection processes and systems.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close procedures related to royalty income.
- Provide support for internal and external audits related to royalty collections.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in financial analysis, accounts receivable, or royalty administration.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, advanced formulas).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with internal and external parties.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote work environment.
- Familiarity with financial reporting and accounting principles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the music, entertainment, or intellectual property industries.
- Knowledge of royalty accounting software or large ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Experience with international payment processing and foreign currency conversions.
- Understanding of copyright and licensing agreements.
- Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA).
