Job Description

Commissionaires Nova Scotia is offering an exciting opportunity for dedicated individuals to join our team as Security Guards. We believe in investing in our people, which is why we will cover the cost of your security licence training and examination. This is an entry-level position perfect for those eager to learn, committed to professionalism, and ready to make a difference in their community. You will receive comprehensive training to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in this vital role.
Key Responsibilities
- Patrol assigned areas regularly to ensure the safety and security of premises and personnel.
- Monitor surveillance equipment and alarm systems.
- Respond to emergencies and alarms, conducting initial investigations and reporting incidents.
- Control access points, verifying credentials and managing visitor logs.
- Maintain a visible presence to deter unauthorized activities.
- Complete detailed daily reports of activities, observations, and incidents.
- Provide assistance and directions to clients, staff, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
- Enforce company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with all security protocols.
- Collaborate with emergency services as required during critical situations.
Required Skills
- No prior experience required – full training provided.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be 19 years of age or older.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to observe situations and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Strong sense of responsibility and integrity.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Must pass a background check and obtain a security licence (cost covered by Commissionaires).
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
- First Aid and CPR certification (will be provided if not already held).
- Previous customer service experience.
