Job Description
Join DP World, a global leader in logistics and port operations, as a Shipping Container Picker. In this dynamic role, you will be crucial to the efficient movement of goods through our global trade hubs. You’ll be responsible for accurately identifying, locating, and preparing shipping containers for transport, ensuring timely delivery and operational excellence. This role demands precision, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety within a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately locate and identify shipping containers based on manifest and dispatch orders.
- Operate heavy machinery (e.g., reach stackers, RTGs) safely and efficiently to move containers as required.
- Conduct pre-operation checks on equipment and report any faults or maintenance needs.
- Ensure all container movements are logged and recorded accurately in the inventory management system.
- Collaborate with yard managers, crane operators, and logistics teams to optimize container flow.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
- Perform routine checks for container integrity and report any damage.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a logistics, warehouse, or port environment.
- Ability to operate heavy lifting equipment (e.g., reach stackers, forklifts, RTGs).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent spatial awareness and understanding of yard layouts.
- Basic computer literacy for logging and data entry.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced setting.
- Commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant heavy equipment operator certifications (e.g., RTG, Reach Stacker, Straddle Carrier).
- Experience with Terminal Operating Systems (TOS).
- Understanding of international shipping and logistics processes.
- Valid driving license for the relevant class of vehicles.
