Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Specialized Home Health Aide (HHA) to provide exceptional post-surgery support to our clients in Palo Alto. This vital role focuses on assisting individuals with their recovery journey, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment at home. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of post-operative care needs, excellent communication skills, and a compassionate approach to client care. Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance, tailored to post-surgical limitations.
- Monitor and report changes in client condition, vital signs, and pain levels to supervising nurses or care coordinators.
- Assist with medication reminders and ensure adherence to prescribed regimens.
- Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary restrictions and assist with feeding as needed.
- Perform light housekeeping duties, laundry, and maintain a clean and safe living environment.
- Provide companionship and emotional support, fostering a positive and encouraging atmosphere.
- Assist with exercises and rehabilitation activities as directed by a therapist or nurse.
- Accurately document all care provided and observations made during shifts.
Required Skills
- Certified Home Health Aide (HHA) in California.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in home health, with significant experience in post-operative care.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Ability to lift, transfer, and assist clients with mobility.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Compassionate, patient, and reliable demeanor.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with specific surgical recovery protocols (e.g., orthopedic, cardiac, general surgery).
- Knowledge of wound care basics and infection control practices.
- Familiarity with medical equipment used in home settings (e.g., walkers, oxygen concentrators).
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
