Job Description
We are seeking an exceptionally talented and dedicated Specialized Piano Instructor to join our prestigious Department of Music. This pivotal role involves providing high-level, individualized piano instruction within our private conservatory setting. The successful candidate will inspire, challenge, and nurture advanced piano students, guiding them towards artistic mastery and comprehensive musical understanding. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver expert one-on-one piano instruction to students of varying levels, from advanced undergraduates to graduate students.
- Develop and implement personalized curriculum plans tailored to student needs and conservatory standards.
- Prepare students for recitals, competitions, auditions, and examinations, ensuring high performance standards.
- Conduct regular student assessments, provide constructive feedback, and track progress.
- Participate in departmental meetings, faculty recitals, and other university and community engagement events.
- Mentor students in areas such as performance practice, music theory application, sight-reading, and repertoire development.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the piano program and the broader conservatory curriculum.
Required Skills
- Master's degree in Piano Performance or Piano Pedagogy (Doctorate preferred)
- Demonstrated expertise in piano performance with an active performance history
- Proven experience in teaching piano at a university or conservatory level for at least 3 years
- Comprehensive knowledge of piano repertoire, technique, and music theory
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a studio of dedicated students
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate in Piano Performance or Piano Pedagogy
- Significant solo and collaborative performance experience
- Experience with diverse teaching methodologies and student populations
- Record of student success in competitions, auditions, or advanced studies
- Familiarity with music technology and its application in piano instruction
