Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Theatre Porters to join our surgical suite support team at University Hospital, Coventry. This vital role involves assisting with the safe and efficient movement of patients, equipment, and specimens within our busy operating theatres and recovery areas. You will be an integral part of the clinical team, ensuring the smooth flow of surgical procedures and maintaining a clean and safe environment. Full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided, and comprehensive training will be given to ensure you are confident and competent in all aspects of your role. Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport patients to and from operating theatres, recovery rooms, and wards, adhering to all hospital protocols.
- Assist clinical staff with patient transfers between beds, trolleys, and operating tables.
- Move and set up essential medical equipment, instruments, and supplies within the theatre environment.
- Transport specimens, blood products, and confidential documents to relevant departments.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within theatre corridors and support areas, ensuring equipment is stored correctly.
- Respond promptly to requests from theatre staff, prioritizing urgent tasks effectively.
- Adhere strictly to infection control policies and procedures, including proper use and disposal of PPE.
- Provide compassionate support and reassurance to patients and their families.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, health and safety concerns, or incidents to the appropriate personnel.
