Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Think Tank Inventory Clerk with a strong focus on publications and stock management to join our team at the University of Central Florida. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the precise tracking, organization, and distribution of a wide range of academic publications, research reports, and other stock items across various departments and research centers. This position requires meticulous record-keeping, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining accurate inventory levels to support the university’s research and educational missions. You will play a key role in ensuring that our intellectual output is effectively managed and accessible.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the physical inventory of all publications, research reports, journals, and other stock items within designated storage areas.
  • Perform regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies, ensuring accuracy of stock records.
  • Receive, inspect, and process incoming shipments of publications and supplies, verifying against purchase orders.
  • Organize and maintain orderly storage facilities, implementing efficient shelving and retrieval systems.
  • Process requests for publications and materials from internal departments, faculty, and external partners, preparing items for dispatch.
  • Utilize inventory management software to log movements, track stock levels, and generate reports.
  • Collaborate with research teams and administrative staff to anticipate publication needs and plan stock replenishment.
  • Assist with packaging and shipping of materials, adhering to established protocols and timelines.
  • Identify and report damaged or obsolete stock for proper disposition.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of inventory control processes and procedures.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in inventory management, warehousing, or stock control, preferably in an academic or publications-focused environment.
  • Proficiency in using inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform accurate data entry and maintain precise records.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to lift and move boxes up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or higher in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a university, research institution, or library setting.
  • Familiarity with academic publishing processes or library cataloging systems.
