Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Ticketing & Box Office Management Intern to join our dynamic team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the fast-paced world of performing arts administration, specifically focusing on ticketing operations and customer service. The successful candidate will support the Box Office team in managing ticket sales, customer inquiries, and ensuring a smooth experience for all patrons of the National Arts Centre. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about arts administration and looking to start their career in the live entertainment industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Box Office staff with daily ticketing operations, including processing ticket sales and exchanges.
- Provide excellent customer service, responding to patron inquiries in person, over the phone, and via email.
- Learn and utilize the NAC's ticketing software (e.g., Tessitura or similar systems) for various tasks.
- Support the preparation of sales reports and reconciliation activities.
- Help manage group sales bookings and special patron requests.
- Assist with Box Office setup and breakdown for performances and events.
- Contribute to maintaining an organized and efficient Box Office environment.
- Participate in training sessions and departmental meetings to understand broader operational goals.
Required Skills
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- A keen interest in the performing arts and live entertainment.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by event schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in Arts Administration, Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- Prior experience in customer service, retail, or a call centre environment.
- Familiarity with ticketing software (e.g., Tessitura, Ticketmaster, Spektrix).
- Bilingualism (English and French) is a significant asset.
