Job Description

Are you ready to kickstart a rewarding career as a professional Heavy Vehicle Operator? XPO Logistics is offering an incredible opportunity to join our team as a Trainee Heavy Vehicle Operator. We believe in investing in our future talent, which is why we provide paid CDL-A (Commercial Driver’s License Class A) training through our comprehensive school program. No prior experience is required – just a strong work ethic, a commitment to safety, and a desire to learn. Upon successful completion of the training and obtaining your CDL-A, you will transition into a full-time professional driver role with competitive pay and excellent benefits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively participate and successfully complete all aspects of the company-sponsored CDL-A training program.
  • Adhere to all training guidelines, safety protocols, and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  • Learn and demonstrate proficiency in pre-trip and post-trip inspections of heavy vehicles.
  • Develop skills in safe and efficient operation of tractor-trailers, including backing, maneuvering, and coupling/uncoupling.
  • Maintain accurate logbooks and submit necessary paperwork as instructed.
  • Communicate effectively with trainers, dispatch, and other team members.
  • Commit to a drug-free workplace and pass all required drug and alcohol screenings.
  • Demonstrate a professional and responsible attitude at all times.

Required Skills

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Valid state-issued driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical examination and drug screen
  • Strong commitment to safety and compliance
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficiently to perform job duties and communicate with the public
  • Successful completion of a background check
  • Willingness to commit to a rigorous training schedule

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic mechanical aptitude or familiarity with vehicle maintenance
  • Previous experience in a physically demanding role
