This is a unique leadership opportunity designed for those with little to no prior management experience who possess the drive to lead, learn, and excel in a fast-paced operational environment. As a Trainee, you will undergo comprehensive training to understand the intricate workings of our package sorting and distribution systems, focusing specifically on managing the critical “belt” operations. You will learn how to optimize workflow, ensure safety protocols are strictly followed, and effectively lead a team of dedicated employees. This role is a direct pathway to becoming a skilled operational leader within UPS, making a tangible impact on our daily mission to deliver essential goods and services worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in a structured training program to learn all aspects of belt operations, package flow, and hub management.
- Shadow experienced Belt Managers to understand supervisory duties, team leadership, and operational problem-solving.
- Learn and enforce all company safety procedures and regulations within the sorting facility.
- Assist in supervising a team of package handlers, providing guidance, feedback, and support to ensure productivity and adherence to standards.
- Monitor belt line performance, identify potential bottlenecks, and contribute to solutions for improved efficiency.
- Contribute to maintaining a positive and productive work environment for all team members.
- Develop a strong understanding of UPS's operational metrics and contribute to achieving targets.
- Communicate effectively with peers, superiors, and subordinates regarding operational status and team performance.
