Job Description

Southwest Airlines is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Weekend Ticket Agent to join our team in Oakland, CA. This part-time professional aviation role is perfect for individuals looking to embark on a career in the airline industry or those seeking flexible weekend work. As a Ticket Agent, you will be the first point of contact for many of our passengers, playing a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and pleasant travel experience from check-in to boarding. Your professionalism, attention to detail, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment will be key to your success.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist passengers with check-in procedures, including verifying identification, issuing boarding passes, and assigning seats.
- Handle baggage claim and check-in, ensuring compliance with weight and size restrictions.
- Provide accurate flight information, answer passenger inquiries, and address concerns with a positive and helpful attitude.
- Process ticket sales, changes, and refunds using airline computer systems.
- Resolve passenger issues, such as delayed or canceled flights, rebooking, and lost luggage, efficiently and empathetically.
- Collaborate with ground crew, gate agents, and flight attendants to ensure on-time departures.
- Adhere to all safety, security, and company policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Required Skills
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
- Proficiency in basic computer systems and ability to quickly learn airline-specific software.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts as required.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in customer service, aviation, or hospitality roles.
- Fluency in a second language (e.g., Spanish, Tagalog) is a plus.
- Experience with airline ticketing or reservation systems.
- Prior experience handling cash and processing transactions.
