Job Description

We are actively seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Yard Spotter / Switcher for immediate hire to join our dynamic team in Seattle. This full-time position operates Monday through Friday, playing a critical role in managing trailer movements within our busy logistics yard. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely and efficiently moving trailers between docks, staging areas, and parking spots, ensuring smooth operational flow and adherence to all safety protocols. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate yard hostler/spotter truck to move trailers safely and efficiently within the yard.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on equipment, documenting any defects or maintenance needs.
  • Ensure timely movement of trailers to and from dock doors for loading and unloading.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, dock supervisors, and other team members regarding trailer locations and movements.
  • Maintain an organized and clean yard environment.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as DOT regulations.
  • Assist with other yard duties as needed to support overall operations.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • Minimum of 1 year experience operating a yard spotter/hostler or tractor-trailer in a logistics or distribution environment.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  • Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safety protocols.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with various types of trailers (e.g., dry vans, reefers).
  • Familiarity with yard management systems or similar logistics software.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
