Job Description
Deloitte is seeking an experienced Google Database Developer with a strong focus on SQL and Big Data technologies to join our dynamic and innovative team. This is a 100% remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within the UK. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and high-performance database solutions within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ecosystem. You will work on critical projects involving large datasets, ensuring data integrity, optimizing database performance, and collaborating closely with data engineers, analysts, and other developers to deliver robust data solutions that drive business intelligence and operational efficiency. We are looking for a proactive problem-solver with a deep understanding of relational databases, NoSQL databases, and Big Data processing frameworks on GCP.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement robust database solutions using Google Cloud Platform services (e.g., BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Cloud Spanner, Dataflow).
- Write, optimize, and review complex SQL queries for performance and scalability in large-scale data environments.
- Develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines for data ingestion, transformation, and loading into Big Data platforms.
- Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions for optimization and stability.
- Collaborate with data architects and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Ensure data security, integrity, and compliance with company policies and industry best practices.
- Participate in code reviews, contribute to documentation, and adhere to best practices for software development and data governance.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in Google Cloud database and Big Data technologies.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Database Developer or Data Engineer with a strong focus on Google Cloud Platform.
- Expertise in SQL, including advanced querying, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
- Hands-on experience with Big Data technologies on GCP (e.g., BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Cloud Storage).
- Solid understanding of relational database design, data modeling, and normalization principles.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for data manipulation and automation.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer or Database Engineer certification.
- Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., Firestore, MongoDB, Cassandra).
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and data lake architectures.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for database deployments.
- Understanding of data governance and data quality frameworks.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
