Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Pharmaceutical Chemist to join our dynamic High-End Biotech team in Boulder, Colorado. This role is crucial for advancing our innovative drug discovery and development pipeline. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the synthesis, purification, and characterization of novel chemical entities, contributing directly to the creation of life-changing therapies. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute multi-step organic synthesis of small molecules for drug discovery programs.
  • Purify synthesized compounds using various chromatographic techniques (e.g., flash chromatography, HPLC).
  • Characterize compounds using advanced analytical instrumentation, including NMR, MS, and IR.
  • Interpret complex analytical data to confirm compound identity and purity.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate laboratory notebooks and electronic records.
  • Collaborate effectively with medicinal chemists, biologists, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Contribute to the optimization of synthetic routes and reaction conditions.
  • Ensure strict adherence to laboratory safety protocols and best practices.
  • Present research findings in team meetings and contribute to scientific reports.

Required Skills

  • Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a related field; or a Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience; or a Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in synthetic organic chemistry, including reaction design, execution, and work-up.
  • Proficiency in operating and interpreting data from analytical instruments such as NMR, LC-MS, and HPLC.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot synthetic challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Postdoctoral experience in an academic or industrial setting.
  • Experience in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry environment.
  • Familiarity with parallel synthesis and automation techniques.
  • Knowledge of drug discovery principles and lead optimization strategies.
  • Experience working in a GLP/GMP compliant laboratory setting.
