Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and reliable Blood Bank Porter to join our critical services team in Bradford. This is an urgent vacancy for an individual who understands the immense responsibility of handling and transporting life-saving blood products. You will be instrumental in ensuring the timely and safe delivery of blood and blood components throughout our hospital sites, directly contributing to patient care and emergency response. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, adherence to strict protocols, and a calm demeanor under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently transport blood, blood components, and other critical laboratory samples between the Blood Bank and various hospital departments, including operating theatres and emergency wards.
  • Ensure all deliveries are logged accurately, maintaining strict chain-of-custody records for all blood products.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, infection control policies, and blood product handling guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with Blood Bank staff, nurses, doctors, and other hospital personnel to coordinate urgent deliveries.
  • Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and operational readiness of transport equipment.
  • Assist with inventory checks and stock rotation within the Blood Bank area as required.
  • Respond promptly to urgent calls for blood product delivery, prioritizing based on clinical need.
