Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Geophysicist / Seismologist to join our dynamic team in Kansas City, Missouri. This critical role involves applying advanced geophysical principles and seismic data analysis techniques to support various energy and environmental projects. The successful candidate will be instrumental in interpreting subsurface data, identifying potential resources, and mitigating geological risks. Key Responsibilities
- Interpret 2D and 3D seismic data to identify subsurface structures, fault systems, and geological hazards.
- Perform quantitative interpretation including seismic attribute analysis, inversion, and rock physics modeling.
- Integrate seismic data with well logs, core data, and other geological information to develop comprehensive subsurface models.
- Conduct seismic processing quality control and advise on optimal processing parameters.
- Generate detailed geological maps, cross-sections, and reports summarizing findings and recommendations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including geologists, reservoir engineers, and drilling engineers.
- Utilize industry-standard geophysical software platforms for data analysis and modeling.
- Present technical findings and recommendations to internal teams and external clients.
- Contribute to research and development initiatives to enhance geophysical workflows and technologies.
- Adhere to all safety and environmental regulations and company policies.
Required Skills
- Master's or Ph.D. in Geophysics, Geology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in seismic data interpretation and analysis (3+ years preferred).
- Proficiency with geophysical software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite, Paradigm, OpendTect).
- Strong understanding of seismic acquisition, processing, and imaging principles.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, international environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects and deliver results under tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with unconventional resource plays or carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or MATLAB for data analysis and scripting.
- Field experience in seismic data acquisition or quality control.
- Professional certification in Geophysics or related discipline.
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals or presentations at international conferences.
