Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Night Porter to join our welcoming team at The Canterbury Hotel. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to start or advance their career in hospitality, as full training will be provided to ensure you are confident and competent in all aspects of the role. You will be responsible for ensuring the safety and comfort of our guests, managing front desk operations during night hours, and maintaining the security of the premises. This role comes with a high night shift premium to reflect the important nature of the work. Key Responsibilities
- Perform regular security checks and patrols throughout the hotel premises to ensure safety and security.
- Handle late check-ins and early check-outs efficiently and courteously.
- Address guest inquiries, requests, and minor complaints promptly and professionally, escalating issues as necessary.
- Set up and prepare meeting rooms or function spaces for the following day.
- Carry out basic administrative tasks, including processing reports and managing guest accounts.
- Assist with minor maintenance issues and emergencies during the night shift.
- Ensure all public areas are clean and presentable for the morning shift.
- Act as a first point of contact for all guests and visitors during night hours.
Required Skills

- Basic computer literacy for front desk operations.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer service or hospitality role (not essential as full training is provided).
- Knowledge of local area attractions and services in Canterbury.
- First Aid certification (training can be provided).
