Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Raw Materials Chemist with a strong focus on supply chain integration to join our innovative team in Jersey City, NJ. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the quality assessment, specification, and technical support of raw materials used in our diverse product portfolio. You will work closely with our procurement, R&D, and manufacturing teams to ensure the consistent supply of high-quality raw materials, optimize inventory, and mitigate supply chain risks. Your expertise will be vital in qualifying new suppliers, resolving material-related issues, and contributing to our continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform chemical analysis and characterization of incoming raw materials to ensure compliance with established specifications.
  • Develop, review, and update raw material specifications and testing methods.
  • Collaborate with procurement to qualify new raw material suppliers and manage existing supplier relationships from a technical perspective.
  • Investigate and resolve raw material non-conformances, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing, R&D, and quality control on raw material-related issues.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams for new product development and process optimization, focusing on raw material selection and performance.
  • Monitor global supply chain trends and risks related to raw materials, proposing strategies for mitigation.
  • Maintain detailed records of raw material testing, supplier audits, and incident reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and quality regulations.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a raw material quality control, R&D, or supply chain role within the chemical industry.
  • Strong understanding of analytical chemistry techniques (e.g., GC, HPLC, FTIR, spectroscopy).
  • Experience with raw material specification development and supplier qualification processes.
  • Knowledge of supply chain principles and risk management related to raw materials.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and technical report writing.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
  • Experience with SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and other relevant quality management systems.
  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for chemical products (e.g., REACH, GHS).
