Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and skilled Garden Cabin Stainer to join our property maintenance team in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent. In this role, you will be responsible for the preparation, staining, and finishing of garden cabins and other wooden outdoor structures to refresh their appearance and protect them from the elements. Your keen eye for detail and commitment to quality will ensure our properties maintain a pristine and well-cared-for look, enhancing their longevity and aesthetic appeal for residents and clients. This is a hands-on role requiring practical skills and a proactive approach to work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare wooden surfaces for staining, including cleaning, sanding, and minor repairs.
  • Apply wood stains, varnishes, and protective coatings using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Ensure even application and a high-quality finish, paying close attention to detail.
  • Inspect cabins for wear and tear, identifying areas requiring maintenance or repair.
  • Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are clean and in good working order.
  • Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and company policies.
  • Manage time effectively to complete tasks within designated schedules.
  • Report any significant issues or damage to supervisors.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members on larger projects when required.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in wood staining, painting, or general property maintenance.
  • Familiarity with various types of wood stains, sealants, and application methods.
  • Ability to prepare surfaces effectively, including sanding and cleaning.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality finishes.
  • Good physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant vocational qualification in painting, decorating, or carpentry.

  • Full UK driving license.
