Job Description

Are you a passionate gamer looking to break into the dynamic world of game development? Zynga is offering an exciting Summer Break Game Tester contract position for students eager to gain hands-on experience. As a Game Tester, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and enjoyment of our upcoming mobile titles. This 3-month contract will immerse you in the game development lifecycle, providing invaluable insights into quality assurance processes. You’ll work closely with our development and QA teams in our vibrant SoMa office, identifying bugs, providing constructive feedback, and contributing directly to the player experience. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to apply their love for gaming in a professional setting and build foundational industry experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute test plans and identify software defects in various game titles.
  • Document, track, and report bugs clearly and concisely using internal tracking tools.
  • Provide detailed feedback on game mechanics, usability, and overall player experience.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance and Development teams to reproduce and verify bug fixes.
  • Adhere to project timelines and deliverables for testing cycles.
  • Participate in daily stand-ups and team meetings, sharing progress and insights.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university program (any major, but relevant fields like Computer Science, Game Design, or Media Studies are a plus).
  • Strong passion for video games and a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Basic familiarity with mobile gaming platforms (iOS, Android).
  • Proactive attitude with a strong desire to learn.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior informal or formal experience testing games, apps, or software.
  • Familiarity with bug tracking software (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla).
  • Experience with different game genres and an understanding of game design principles.
  • Ability to analyze game systems and predict potential issues.
