Job Description
Are you a motivated 14-year-old looking for your first work experience in a calm and organized environment? The Huntsville-Madison County Public Library is seeking a detail-oriented and responsible Library Assistant to join our team. This quiet, part-time role is perfect for a teen who enjoys working with books, organizing, and contributing to a peaceful community space. You will play a vital role in ensuring our collections are accessible and neatly maintained for all patrons.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately shelve books, DVDs, and other library materials in their correct locations.
- Maintain the neatness and order of shelves, ensuring materials are in proper sequence.
- Assist with tidying library spaces, including reading areas and common use tables.
- Perform light organizational tasks as directed by library staff.
- Help prepare new materials for circulation (e.g., applying labels, covering books), under supervision.
- Provide a friendly and quiet presence, assisting patrons with basic directional questions.
