Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and physically capable Carpet Roll Mover to join our warehouse team in Nanaimo. This role is crucial for the efficient flow of merchandise within our facility, primarily involving the safe and proper handling, moving, and storage of heavy carpet rolls. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and possess a strong commitment to safety and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manually lift, push, pull, and stack heavy carpet rolls, often weighing over 50 lbs.
  • Operate pallet jacks and other material handling equipment as needed (training provided).
  • Load and unload carpet rolls from trucks and storage racks.
  • Organize and maintain the carpet storage area, ensuring proper inventory placement.
  • Inspect carpet rolls for damage and report any discrepancies.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and warehouse procedures.
  • Assist with general warehouse duties as required, including cleanup and organization.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve daily operational goals.

Required Skills

  • Ability to repeatedly lift and move heavy objects (50+ lbs) throughout an 8-hour shift.
  • Strong understanding and commitment to workplace safety practices.
  • Excellent physical stamina and endurance.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the Nanaimo warehouse facility.
  • Basic communication skills to follow instructions and report issues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a warehouse or physically demanding role.
  • Experience operating material handling equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jack).
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
