Job Description
We are seeking a meticulous and analytical Email & Spam Categorizer to join our Data Flow Management team in Southport. In this critical role, you will be responsible for classifying incoming email traffic, accurately identifying and categorizing spam, phishing attempts, and legitimate communications. Your work will directly contribute to maintaining data integrity, enhancing security protocols, and optimizing information flow for our clients. This position requires a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of email patterns, and a commitment to precision in data categorization.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and accurately categorize large volumes of email communications, distinguishing between legitimate emails, spam, phishing attempts, and other unsolicited mail.
- Develop and refine rule sets and criteria for automated email classification systems.
- Monitor data flow channels for anomalies and report potential security threats or misclassifications.
- Collaborate with data engineering and cybersecurity teams to improve detection capabilities and system efficiency.
- Maintain detailed documentation of categorization processes, rule changes, and encountered patterns.
- Generate regular reports on email categorization accuracy, spam trends, and overall data flow health.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for data quality and security measures.
Required Skills
- Proven strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Basic understanding of email protocols (SMTP, IMAP, POP3) and common email security threats.
- Familiarity with data classification principles and methods.
- Proficiency in using data entry tools and spreadsheet software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related analytical field.
- Prior experience in content moderation, data annotation, or a similar categorization role.
- Exposure to machine learning concepts, particularly in text classification or natural language processing.
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations such as GDPR.
