Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Junior Subsea Drafter to join our team in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This entry-level position offers comprehensive, specialized AutoCAD training tailored for subsea engineering applications. The successful candidate will work closely with our experienced engineering teams, assisting in the creation of precise technical drawings and documentation for subsea equipment and systems. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about technical drafting who are eager to learn and grow within the challenging and rewarding subsea industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and revise 2D and 3D technical drawings of subsea components, structures, and systems using AutoCAD software.
- Collaborate with engineers and senior drafters to translate design concepts into detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings.
- Ensure all drawings comply with industry standards, company specifications, and project requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation and drawing revision control.
- Assist in the preparation of project documentation, including material lists and specifications.
- Actively participate in specialized AutoCAD training programs to enhance subsea drafting expertise and proficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the engineering department and project needs.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD software.
- Strong foundational understanding of technical drawing principles and practices.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to interpret engineering sketches, red-line markups, and verbal instructions.
- Proactive approach to learning and problem-solving.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree or certificate in Drafting, Design, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Prior internship or academic project experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with subsea or marine industry terminology and components (even at a basic level).
- Experience with other CAD software such as SolidWorks or Inventor.
