Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and physically capable Carpet Fitting Offsider to join our dynamic installation team in Biloxi. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to start a career in the flooring industry with a reputable company. As an Offsider, you will work closely with experienced carpet fitters, providing essential support for various indoor manual tasks. This role offers high pay commensurate with the demanding nature of the work and the valuable skills you will acquire. No prior experience is required, as we are dedicated to providing comprehensive on-the-job training.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead carpet fitters with the loading, unloading, and transport of carpeting and tools to and from job sites.
- Prepare work areas by removing old flooring, moving furniture, and cleaning surfaces.
- Support the fitter during carpet installation, including cutting, seaming, stretching, and securing materials.
- Learn to safely and efficiently operate basic hand and power tools relevant to carpet fitting.
- Ensure job sites are kept clean, tidy, and safe throughout the installation process.
- Communicate effectively with team members and customers, maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures at all times.
Required Skills
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials (up to 75 lbs regularly).
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Willingness to learn new skills and follow instructions diligently.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Basic understanding of safety protocols in a manual labor setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in manual labor, construction, or a related trade.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
