Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Music Technology Tutor specializing in Digital Audio Workstations (DAW) and music software to join our remote team. This role involves guiding students through the intricacies of music production, sound design, mixing, and mastering using industry-standard software. You will be responsible for creating engaging learning experiences, providing personalized feedback, and helping students achieve their musical and technical goals in a flexible, online environment. This is a 100% remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct live, one-on-one and group online tutoring sessions focusing on DAW operation (e.g., Ableton Live, Logic Pro X, FL Studio, Pro Tools) and related software.
- Develop and deliver customized lesson plans tailored to student needs, skill levels, and learning objectives.
- Provide constructive feedback on student projects, compositions, and technical exercises.
- Explain complex music technology concepts clearly and concisely, adapting teaching methods to diverse learning styles.
- Stay current with the latest updates in music software, plugins, and production techniques.
- Assist students with technical troubleshooting related to their DAWs, audio interfaces, and other music hardware/software.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and session details.
- Contribute to the development of new course materials and educational content.
- Foster a supportive and inspiring learning environment for all students.
Required Skills
- Expert proficiency in at least two major DAWs (e.g., Ableton Live, Logic Pro X, FL Studio, Pro Tools, Cubase).
- Strong understanding of audio engineering principles including recording, mixing, mastering, and sound design.
- Demonstrable experience teaching or tutoring music technology to diverse learners.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly.
- Solid knowledge of music theory and composition principles.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve common technical issues related to music software and hardware.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a quiet home studio environment suitable for online teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Music Production, Audio Engineering, or a related field.
- Certifications from major DAW providers or accredited music technology institutions.
- Experience with various virtual instruments, effects plugins, and MIDI controllers.
- Portfolio of personal music production work demonstrating advanced skills.
- Familiarity with online learning platforms and virtual classroom tools.
