Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and meticulous Painter and Decorator to join our dedicated team, focusing exclusively on clean residential projects in and around Leith, Edinburgh. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a passion for delivering high-quality finishes, and a professional approach to working within clients’ homes. This role requires expertise in various painting techniques, surface preparation, and the ability to maintain a tidy and organised workspace. You will be responsible for transforming residential spaces, ensuring all work meets our rigorous standards for excellence and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for painting and decorating by cleaning, sanding, filling, priming, and repairing cracks or holes.
- Apply paint, varnish, and other finishes to walls, ceilings, woodwork, and exterior surfaces using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
- Hang various types of wallpaper with precision and care.
- Perform minor plastering and other repairs to ensure a smooth finish.
- Select and mix paints to achieve specified colours and textures.
- Protect furniture, flooring, and other surfaces from paint splatters and damage.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and ensure satisfaction.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Manage time effectively to complete projects within deadlines.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Painter and Decorator, particularly in residential settings.
- Excellent knowledge of painting and decorating materials, tools, and techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality finishes.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good physical stamina and manual dexterity.
- Valid UK driving licence.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Painting and Decorating or equivalent qualification.
- CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
- Experience with specialist finishes or decorative techniques.
- Portfolio of previous residential work.
