Job Description

Join Duke Energy as an Energy Sector HR Trainee with a focus on recruitment. This fully remote position offers an enthusiastic individual the opportunity to kickstart their career in Human Resources within the dynamic energy sector. You will gain hands-on experience in various aspects of the talent acquisition process, from sourcing and screening to supporting interview coordination and candidate experience. Work closely with our experienced HR team, learning best practices in a fast-paced environment and contributing directly to building a robust workforce for the future of energy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the full recruitment lifecycle, including job posting, candidate sourcing, and screening.
  • Support the coordination of interviews and manage candidate communications to ensure a positive experience.
  • Maintain and update candidate databases and applicant tracking systems with accuracy.
  • Conduct initial phone screenings to assess candidate qualifications and cultural fit.
  • Help prepare recruitment reports and analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with HR business partners and hiring managers to understand staffing needs.
  • Participate in HR projects and initiatives to enhance overall HR operations.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in HR and recruitment within the energy sector.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational abilities and keen attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote team environment
  • High level of professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information
  • A strong interest in Human Resources, particularly recruitment, and the energy sector

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Previous experience (academic or professional) with applicant tracking systems (ATS)
  • Familiarity with remote collaboration tools and virtual communication platforms
  • Basic understanding of employment law and HR compliance
