Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Dermatology Nurse Practitioner to join our dynamic team in Rancho Cucamonga. This role involves providing comprehensive dermatological care, encompassing both cosmetic and medical aspects, to a diverse patient population. The ideal candidate will be adept at diagnosing and treating various skin conditions, performing minor procedures, and collaborating effectively with dermatologists and other healthcare providers. You will be instrumental in delivering patient-centered care, educating patients on skin health, and contributing to the overall excellence of our dermatology department.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive dermatological assessments, including history taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests.
- Diagnose and treat common and complex skin conditions, including acne, eczema, psoriasis, skin cancers, and various rashes.
- Perform minor dermatological procedures such as biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy, and intralesional injections.
- Administer cosmetic treatments including Botox, dermal fillers, and laser therapies (with appropriate training and certification).
- Prescribe medications, topical treatments, and other therapies in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, ensuring continuity of care and appropriate follow-up.
- Educate patients on skin care, disease prevention, treatment options, and post-procedure care.
- Collaborate with supervising dermatologists and other specialists to optimize patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records in electronic health systems.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education to stay current with dermatological advancements.
Required Skills
- Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in the state of California.
- Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner (Adult-Gerontology, Family, or equivalent).
- Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- DEA registration and prescriptive authority.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience as an NP, with at least 2 years specifically in a dermatology setting.
- Proficiency in performing dermatological procedures (biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy).
- Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient education abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cosmetic dermatology procedures (Botox, fillers, lasers).
- Certification in Dermatology Nursing (DCNP or similar).
- Experience working within a large integrated healthcare system.
- Fluency in Spanish or other languages spoken by the local community.
