Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Solar Installation Supervisor to lead our installation teams in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of solar PV system installations, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on time, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in solar installations, and excellent problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead solar installation crews on-site, providing guidance and technical expertise.
- Ensure all installations adhere to local codes, industry standards, and company safety protocols.
- Conduct pre-installation site visits, assess project requirements, and prepare materials lists.
- Oversee the proper installation of solar panels, racking systems, inverters, and electrical components.
- Perform quality control checks and inspections throughout the installation process.
- Train and mentor junior installers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Manage project timelines and resources, ensuring efficient workflow and on-time completion.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Troubleshoot technical issues that arise during installation and provide effective solutions.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily logs, safety reports, and progress updates.
- Ensure the certificate of sponsorship (CoS) process is handled efficiently for team members as required.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in solar PV installation, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and circuit diagrams specific to solar PV.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
- Extensive understanding of building codes, safety regulations, and OSHA standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work at heights and lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs).
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- NABCEP certification (PV Installation Professional or equivalent).
- Journeyman Electrician license.
- Experience with various types of solar racking systems and inverter technologies.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Familiarity with project management software.
