Job Description

Intact Insurance is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Vehicle Damage Estimator (Trainee) in our Dartmouth, Nova Scotia office. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone passionate about the automotive industry and eager to build a career in auto insurance claims. As a Trainee, you will undergo comprehensive training to develop the skills necessary to accurately assess vehicle damage, prepare repair estimates, and provide exceptional service to our valued clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in a structured training program to learn vehicle damage assessment techniques and estimation software.
  • Assist senior Vehicle Damage Estimators with inspections, documentation, and estimate preparation.
  • Learn to identify and categorize various types of vehicle damage, including structural, mechanical, and cosmetic.
  • Communicate effectively with policyholders, repair shops, and internal teams regarding claim status and repair processes.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and industry best practices for claims handling and estimation.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all estimates and related communications.
  • Develop a strong understanding of automotive repair processes and insurance regulations.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • A valid G-class driver's license and a clean driving record
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical abilities
  • Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a customer-centric approach
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies and procedures
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education or certification in an automotive repair, collision repair, or technical field
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics, bodywork, and repair processes
  • Previous experience in a customer service role
