Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and innovative Agrochemical Chemist with a strong focus on fertilizer and crop science to join our research and development team in Vallejo, CA. In this vital role, you will be instrumental in the discovery, development, and optimization of novel agrochemical formulations, particularly those related to fertilizers, plant nutrition, and crop protection. You will conduct laboratory experiments, analyze data, and contribute to the scientific understanding that drives agricultural innovation. This is an on-site position.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute laboratory experiments for the synthesis and characterization of new agrochemical compounds and formulations.
- Focus on developing advanced fertilizer technologies and crop protection solutions.
- Conduct rigorous testing and analysis to evaluate the efficacy, stability, and safety of new products.
- Operate and maintain analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, GC-MS, and NMR.
- Interpret complex analytical data and present findings to cross-functional teams.
- Collaborate with biologists, agronomists, and regulatory affairs specialists to ensure product viability and compliance.
- Maintain detailed records of experimental procedures, results, and observations.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory practices and safety protocols.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, scientific advancements, and regulatory changes in agrochemistry.
Required Skills
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Agrochemical Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in a laboratory setting, preferably within the agrochemical or specialty chemical industry.
- Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of organic synthesis and analytical techniques.
- Familiarity with formulation science, particularly for agricultural applications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Proficiency in data analysis software and scientific reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with controlled release technologies for fertilizers or pesticides.
- Understanding of plant physiology and nutrient uptake mechanisms.
- Knowledge of global agricultural regulatory requirements.
- Experience with high-throughput screening methods.
- Prior publications or presentations in relevant scientific fields.
