Job Description
Join UPS in Rochester, MN, as a Pedicab Driver with a special focus on tourism and events! This unique role combines our commitment to excellent service with the vibrant local tourism scene. You will be responsible for safely transporting passengers, primarily tourists and event-goers, to various destinations around Rochester, including downtown attractions, event venues, and key landmarks. This position requires excellent customer service skills, a strong knowledge of local attractions, and a passion for providing memorable experiences. You’ll be the face of UPS, offering a friendly, eco-friendly, and enjoyable mode of transport while promoting the best of Rochester.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a pedicab, adhering to all traffic laws and local regulations.
- Transport passengers efficiently and courteously to requested destinations, with a focus on tourist attractions, hotels, Mayo Clinic campus, and event locations.
- Provide engaging commentary and recommendations on local points of interest, dining, and activities.
- Maintain a clean, presentable, and well-maintained pedicab at all times, performing daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Handle passenger inquiries, provide assistance, and ensure a positive and safe experience.
- Manage cash and electronic payments accurately and efficiently.
- Represent UPS with professionalism and a positive attitude.
- Participate in special events and promotions as required.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Rochester's events calendar, tourist spots, and local happenings.
Required Skills
- Valid driver's license (not for driving a pedicab, but for general identity/responsibility, and often preferred by insurance)
- Excellent physical stamina and ability to pedal a pedicab for extended periods.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Familiarity with Rochester, MN, including its geography, main attractions, and key event venues.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, especially during peak tourist seasons and events.
- Professional and friendly demeanor.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a tourism, hospitality, or customer-facing role.
- Prior experience as a pedicab driver, bicycle delivery driver, or similar role.
- Multilingual abilities (e.g., Spanish, Arabic, Somali, French) to assist diverse visitors.
