Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Remote Subtitle & Caption Writer to join our content localization team. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals with excellent listening skills and a keen eye for detail to contribute to making our vast library of video content accessible to a wider audience. In this role, you will be responsible for creating accurate and well-timed subtitles and captions for various types of video content, ensuring a seamless viewing experience for our global audience. This position is 100% remote, allowing you to work from the comfort of your home.
Key Responsibilities
- Watch video content meticulously and accurately transcribe spoken dialogue, sound effects, and musical cues.
- Create synchronized subtitles and captions that adhere to specific timing requirements and character limits.
- Ensure grammatical accuracy, correct spelling, and appropriate punctuation in all captions and subtitles.
- Follow established style guides and accessibility standards for captioning and subtitling.
- Perform quality assurance checks on your own work and, if necessary, on the work of others to ensure high standards.
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently, delivering high-quality output consistently.
- Communicate effectively with project managers and team members regarding project status and any challenges.
Required Skills
- Excellent command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- High level of listening comprehension and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in fast and accurate typing.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and maintain focus over extended periods.
- Basic computer proficiency and comfort with online tools and software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in subtitling, captioning, or transcription services.
- Familiarity with subtitling software (e.g., Aegisub, Subtitle Edit, or proprietary tools).
- Experience working with diverse video content genres (e.g., film, TV series, documentaries, animated content).
- Knowledge of accessibility guidelines (e.g., WCAG) for media content.
- Proficiency in additional languages is a plus, but not required for this English-only role.
