Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and enthusiastic WFH Cataloguing Assistant with a strong focus on digital library content to join our remote team. This is a 100% remote position. In this role, you will be instrumental in organizing, describing, and maintaining our extensive collection of digital resources, ensuring they are easily discoverable and accessible to library users globally. You will work with various metadata standards and content management systems, contributing directly to the quality and usability of our digital library platform. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform original and copy cataloguing of digital materials (e.g., ebooks, audiobooks, video, periodicals) according to established metadata standards (e.g., MARC21, RDA, Dublin Core).
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency of bibliographic records, including authority control and classification.
  • Maintain and update existing digital content records, correcting errors and enhancing descriptions as needed.
  • Collaborate with content acquisition and technical teams to streamline workflow for new digital resource ingestion.
  • Participate in developing and refining cataloguing policies and procedures for digital collections.
  • Assist with data migration and cleanup projects to improve metadata quality.
  • Stay current with best practices and emerging trends in digital cataloguing and library science.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in library technical services or a related field, with a focus on cataloguing.
  • Familiarity with MARC21, RDA, and other relevant metadata standards.
  • Proficiency with library management systems (LMS) or digital asset management systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote work environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Experience with a variety of digital content formats and platforms.
  • Understanding of linked data principles and semantic web technologies.
  • Knowledge of SQL or other database query languages.
  • Experience working with large-scale digital collections.
