Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Heavy Rigging Supervisor to join our team in Barcelona, Spain. This critical role involves overseeing all rigging operations for complex heavy lift projects, ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely execution of tasks. The Heavy Rigging Supervisor will be responsible for planning, supervising, and coordinating all aspects of rigging activities, managing rigging crews, inspecting equipment, and ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols and operational standards. This position requires a strong technical background in heavy rigging, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to work effectively in challenging environments. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and supervise all heavy rigging and lifting operations, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and company policies.
- Lead and mentor rigging crews, providing clear instructions, training, and performance feedback.
- Conduct pre-job hazard assessments, toolbox talks, and ensure all personnel are aware of safety procedures and risks.
- Inspect rigging equipment, slings, shackles, cranes, and other lifting apparatus for defects and ensure proper certification and maintenance.
- Develop detailed lift plans, including load calculations, equipment selection, and rigging configurations.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure seamless integration of rigging activities with overall project schedules.
- Monitor progress of rigging operations, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment inspections, lift plans, safety briefings, and incident reports.
- Ensure all rigging operations adhere to local regulations and international best practices.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all team members comply with health and safety guidelines.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a Heavy Rigging Supervisor or a similar leadership role in heavy lifting or construction.
- Demonstrated expertise in rigging techniques, load calculations, and various types of lifting equipment (e.g., mobile cranes, gantry cranes, strand jacks).
- Thorough understanding of safety regulations and best practices related to heavy lifting operations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, lift plans, and technical specifications.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills under pressure.
- Valid rigging certifications (e.g., LEEA, OSHA, or equivalent international certifications).
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken) due to international project scope.
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training or higher education in mechanical engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- Experience with specialized heavy transport equipment.
- Familiarity with project management software.
- Additional language proficiency (e.g., Spanish, German, French).
- Advanced first aid and rescue certifications.
