Job Description
We are seeking a meticulous and dedicated Food & Ingredient Classifier to join our innovative team, focusing on enhancing our health-focused applications. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the accurate and comprehensive classification of food products and individual ingredients. Your work will directly impact our users’ ability to make informed dietary choices, ensuring the highest quality of nutritional data, allergen information, and dietary suitability within our platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately classify food products and individual ingredients based on established nutritional, dietary, and allergen criteria.
- Research and verify ingredient lists, nutritional panels, and product claims from various sources to ensure data integrity.
- Maintain and update a comprehensive database of food item attributes for our health-focused applications.
- Collaborate closely with nutritionists, data scientists, and product managers to refine classification methodologies and standards.
- Identify and report discrepancies or inconsistencies in product information, proposing solutions for data correction.
- Stay informed on industry trends, emerging dietary guidelines, and food regulations to ensure data relevance and compliance.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of automated classification tools and quality assurance processes.
- Provide expert input on food classification challenges and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in food science, nutrition, dietetics, or a closely related scientific field.
- Strong understanding of food composition, nutritional values, and common allergens.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, verification, and analysis.
- Familiarity with various dietary classifications (e.g., vegan, gluten-free, low-carb, keto).
- Proficiency in using data management systems, spreadsheets, and standard office software.
- Excellent research, critical thinking, and information verification skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related scientific discipline.
- Direct experience with health or food-related mobile applications or digital platforms.
